Frequently Asked Questions

How do I buy shoes with my vouchers?

Vouchers for everyday (non-safety) footwear will be welcomed at most quality specialist footwear retailers and on-line at shoesdirect.com (see below). For safety shoes click here.

Depending on who provided them (e.g. your employer), your vouchers may only be valid for the purchase of specific footwear. The retailer can only supply shoes which meet this validity. If there is a restriction it will be printed on the voucher face below the large £5 or £10.

Wherever your vouchers are accepted you are welcome to add your own money to purchase a more expensive pair of shoes. Please note, however, that the retailer is not required to give you cash change if the footwear you buy is worth less than the vouchers you use to pay for them.

How do I buy SAFETY (PPE) shoes with my vouchers?

Vouchers for PPE (safety) footwear are accepted by branches of Arco ( find my nearest) and a national network of approved safety equipment distributors. You can view a full list arranged by region here.

If you can't find a convenient distributor click here and ask us.

You can also buy safety shoes and boots online at www.gladstoneboots.com or www.equestfootwear.co.uk

Your vouchers are only valid for the purchase of the specification of PPE Footwear detailed on the voucher face (below the large £5 or £10). The distributor will only supply shoes or boots meeting this specification.

You may add your own money if you wish to buy a  more expensive pair of shoes or boots.  Please note, however, that the retailer is not required to give you cash change if the footwear you buy is worth less than the vouchers you use to pay for them.

Do I need to supply PPE Footwear?

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 requires employers to ensure the health and safety of all employees. Further to the Act, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 require all employers to conduct an assessment to identify risk, and this must be documented if there are more than five staff.

You, as the employer, are required to ensure you have complied with your duty of care to staff by eliminating identified risks. You are in breach of the regulations if staff are injured and it can be shown that you have failed in your duty of care to take action to, as far as possible, prevent the accident.
If you cannot identify any other methods of reducing the level of risk as far as practicable, PPE footwear must be issued.

The HSE warns that "legal actions brought as a result of an injury can be extremely damaging to the business". A prosecution under Section 2-6 of  the Health and Safety at Work Act can result in a fine as high as £20,000 in a lower court, or an unlimited fine in a higher court. However, just as alarming for employers is the growing risk of compensation claims from staff, now endemic in the USA.

What is the minimum order requirement?
We're happy to accept orders of any value.

How quickly will my Vouchers be delivered?
Once we have received your order, special printing instructions (e.g. validity statement), and logo artwork (if required), we can normally despatch within 48 hours.

How can you be sure staff really receive the required footwear?
Over the last 22 years we have taken a great deal of trouble over training and supporting our retail partners. Each Voucher is restricted in the exact specification of shoes for which it may be exchanged. Retail staff are well used to ensuring this validity is strictly adhered to. We have never had a client complain that vouchers were being mis-redeemed or that staff were purchasing inappropriate footwear.

How can I order some Vouchers?
Call us or email your requirements. We will need to know the number and denomination (£5 and £10) you require, the validity to which you wish Vouchers to be restricted and any other printing instructions as well as an invoicing and delivery address. If you email we will call you back to discuss your requirements.

How much will I pay for my Vouchers?
Just the face value of Vouchers you order. For example, if you require an allowance of £25 for 150 staff you will pay just £3,750. You pay no handling, printing or delivery charges.

How are Vouchers protected against fraud?
Vouchers are printed on watermarked paper and bear a hologram device. Each Voucher is individually serial numbered. In 22 years we have never experienced a case of fraud.
